One of the most important pieces of equipment is my  'Think Tank Roller bag'. Fully loaded up with gear it weighs 29lbs (13.2 kilo) which may not sound much but then add the bag full of lighting stands, reflectors and the two Quantum Q flashes I sometimes use and you're carrying some hefty baggage around. I started using this roller bag a year ago and it sure makes life a lot easier. So what's in the bag? Well like a lot of press photographers in the nineties I converted from Nikon to Canon and have stayed loyal to that brand. In all honesty both manufacturers make brilliant cameras and lenses so I'm not going to get into the Canon versus Nikon debate which a lot of folk spend countless hours on the internet arguing about.

The kit consists of two bodies, a 16-35mm F2.8, 70-200mm F2.8 and 50mm 1.4 lenses. I also have a 100mm F1.8 which I bring along when I know I'm going to do portraits, for which this and the 50mm 1.4 are lovely lenses to work with. There's four Canon Speedlites along with Pocket Wizard… Read More

The image process

I shoot everything in RAW and process it using Aperture 3 as I find this software very intuitive and easy to use when working on the final image. I do use Adobe CS4  sometimes but I have to admit I'm not a massive user of Photoshop. Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned but I like to get the photograph right at the point of capture so I have little work to do to it in post production. Obviously there are the minor adjusments like white balance, contrast, sharpness etc but I try a keep overall image manipulation to a minimum unless there is something a client specifically wants changing. Read More
